Now Enrolling - Active Parenting for Teens Group!

The award-winning parenting support group program is free for residents of Plaquemines Parish! Please refer any clients/care-givers that reside in Plaquemines Parish that you believe could benefit or be interested.


The Plaquemines Community C.A.R.E. Center Foundations, Inc., in conjunction with the Louisiana Children's Fund, is pleased to announce that the Active Parenting of Teens program for parents and care-givers of teens will be offered in a remote, virtual format! 

The group will be held weekly on Mondays, 5pm-7pm via virtual telehealth, beginning on April 1 and running through May 6.

Through a grant from the Louisiana Children's Fund, we are excited to be able to offer this group free of charge to residents of Plaquemines Parish!

All interested parents and care-givers are asked to contact the CARE Center to schedule a brief Parenting Consultation to screen for group appropriateness.

The deadline to have completed the consultation and registered for the group is Thursday, March 28, so please encourage any and all prospective participants to schedule their Parenting Consultation as soon as possible.

VITA Tax Help is Back!

The VITA Program is back at the CARE Center for this tax season!

The program will run through April 15th!

The VITA program offers free tax help to individuals, families, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

EITC INCOME LIMITS & RANGE - Investment income must be $11,000 or less

  • $56,838 [$63,398 married filing jointly] with 3 or more qualifying children

    • maximum credit: $7,430

  • $52,918 [$59,478 married filing jointly] with 2 qualifying children

    • maximum credit: $6,604

  • $46,560 [$53,120 married filing jointly] with 1 qualifying child

    • maximum credit: $3,995

  • $17,640 [$24,210 married filing jointly] with no children

    • maximum credit: $600

WHAT TO BRING

Please be sure to have the following information with you when you visit one of our VITA sites:

  • Photo ID (taxpayer and spouse if married and filing jointly)

  • Social Security Cards (you, your spouse, and dependents)

  • Birth Dates (you, your spouse, and dependents)

  • Wage & Earning Forms (all W-2, W-2G, and 1099-R Forms)

  • Interest & Dividend Forms (Forms 1099)

  • Total Paid for Child Care (must provide name, address, and tax ID)

  • Bank Routing and Account Numbers (for direct deposit of refund; voided check will suffice)

  • Spouse (if married and filing a joint tax return, your spouse must be present)

  • Form 1095A from the Marketplace

  • Identity Protection Theft PIN Number (IP PIN assigned by IRS)

  • Unemployment Compensation (1099G)

The CARE Center is HIRING!

We’re hiring for the Programs Director position.

This position requires a Masters Degree in Counseling or Social Work with an LPC or LCSW licensure, with supervisor status preferred. At least five years in management experience, skills in staff and student supervision, budgeting and financial knowledge, and program and community development experience is preferred. At least three years in the development and understanding of nonprofit work. Must be able to work with diverse populations with various socio-economic backgrounds. Computer skills are required to write reports, letters, data collection, etc.
