Suicide Prevention Awareness

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, with World Suicide Awareness Day falling on September 10. It's with good reason, too. According to the CDC, completed suicide is the 10th leading cause of death among adults in the U.S. Even more alarmingly, suicide remains the second leading cause of death among adolescents.  The following article by Psychology Today underscores some important aspects of identifying risk factors and effective ways of helping to  prevent an attempt or completion of suicide.

If you know of  a child or adolsescent is contemplating suicide,  alert their parent or guardian immediately.
