March is National Problem Gambling Awareness Month
/March is National Problem Gambling Awareness Month. Approximately 2 million people in the US are problem gamblers. Problem gambling- also commonly referred to as gambling addiction- is when an individual’s gambling behavior affects other parts of their lives. Just like with other addictions, problem gambling behavior can manifest in different patterns. A problem gambler does not necessarily gamble every day, but their gambling habits have caused them financial, interpersonal, and legal problems.
If you or a loved one is having difficulty with gambling, counseling can help. For more information and to be connected with the 24 hour national helpline, visit the National Council on Problem Gambling’s website at http://www.ncpgambling.org/
