Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training
/Darkness to Light (D2L) is a video and discussion program designed to teach adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. This program has been presented to over 500,000 adults throughout the nation and world. A selection of survivor stories, expert guidance, and practical advice are part of a five-step action plan to help adults protect the children in their lives.
The evidence-informed training program also includes up-to-date statistics and current topics in child sexual abuse prevention, packaged into a concise, two-hour format. Cheryl Picou, CASA Supervisor, at the Plaquemines Community CARE Center, is pleased to partner with Darkness to Light to offer Stewards of Children training to Plaquemines Parish residents.
On April 24, 2015, Donna Bruskotter, Theresa Smith, Marsha Hopper, Jean Miller and Irma White attended the first training in our parish. Another training was held on June 30, 2015 for another 8 individuals.
