Children’s Advocacy Center

What is a Children’s Advocacy Center?

Children’s Advocacy Centers do more than just investigate child abuse. We help kids go back to being kids again. Plaquemines Children’s Advocacy Center provides Forensic Interviews for children who have been physically or sexually abused and those who have been a witness to violent crimes. The CAC also provides counseling and advocacy services to the children and their non-offending family members. Currently, there is a partnership with the New Orleans Children’s Advocacy Center/Children’s Hospital to conduct Forensic Medical Exams for these children. Suspected cases of child abuse and neglect are also reported across all of our services to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

The Plaquemines Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is dedicated to providing a child-centered, safe, and healing environment for child victims of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. The CAC offers Forensic Interviews conducted by trained professionals. The staff of the CAC includes: Child and Family Advocates, Forensic Interviewers, Therapists, and Administrative Staff.

The Plaquemines Children’s Advocacy Center is a fully accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance®, a membership association of over 900 children’s advocacy centers, and a member of the Louisiana Alliance of Children’s Advocacy Centers.
